Hello Everyone,

Time has gotten away from me lately. Life sometimes is that way and I have been trying to catch my breath and separate myself from the drama of my life these last few months. Now it is quieter and I have time to think.

I went outside in the quiet of the night tonight. The grass had been freshly cut, something that had not been done for quite a while. We had weeds that looked like small trees! But finally we have a new gardener and it is as if I have emerged from a jungle into a beautiful meadow.

I wheeled outside my door looked at the grass and the shadow of the trees and smiled. Then I turned my head and looked up in the night sky to see a moon that is almost full.
I have always felt connected to the moon and now I know why. It illuminates the darkness, moves in a noticeable cycle and renews itself over and over again. I thanked G-d for protecting me and healing me through difficult times with happy tears.

I recently got back in touch with one of my mom’s friends who knew me as a teen. He told me I am like the moon, that [I] “see what is unseen, what is hidden”. I think a big part of my mission in life is to help people by shining light in those dark places when appropriate and to appreciate the light in whatever way it comes either by the hidden light of the moon or the clear radiance of the sun.

My Path

I had a great birthday and birthday week. Though, now I have a little head cold. Here is an entry I wrote over a week ago.

Today is my Hebrew Birthday:
3 Iyyar 5768/ May 8, 2008.
I didn’t realize it was until the end of the day. And today I slept practically all day because it has been a busy week on this earthly plane for me. I am now in the beginning of an important decade as well. In the Torah(1st five books of Bible) many important things happened after 40 years to signify newness/change. For example, Moses spent 40 days on a mountain before bringing down the ten commandments, and the Jewish people spent 40 years in the desert before becoming a Jewish nation to name just a couple.

A DECADE OF NEW LIFE AND NEW BEGINNINGS in the Jewish tradition. And so it begins one for me personally: I moved, got a new manual wheelchair and repairs on my power chair including upholstery(big deal to not look so ragged!) New realizations, A NEW BLOG, a new voice of peace in my heart. I realize now that I HAVE NEVER BEEN ON A WRONG PATH! G-D IS GUIDING ME IN THE HOLY ONE’S OWN ENDLESS TIME. I USED TO THINK…If Only…and, What Am I Doing Wrong? And now, I feel freer with a greater trust in G-d.

Posting, Posting P..oh...sting

Hello Dear Interested Reader :),

It looks like posting about once a week will work best. So keep checking back weekly and pass the word on if you like what you read.:)

More About Me...because I couldn't fit it all in a small space!

I have many roles in life: I am a daughter, sister, aunt, niece, friend, writer, poet, philosopher, counselor, advocate, teacher and a deeply spiritual person. I'm a compassionate person who is passionately dedicated to seeing life as a blessing, living my life with as much gratitude as possible.

I earned a Master's Degree in Social Work from CSU,Long Beach and Bachelor's Degree in Psychology from CSU,Northridge. I have advocated successfully for myself and others, counseled people with mental and physical disabilities as well as of chronic mental illness and listened to the wisdom of seniors. Throughout my education I educated students and the community from elementary school through college about the needs of people with disabilities by sharing my personal experiences and knowledge.

Welcome to My Blog!

This is my first time writing a blog. I hope you will enjoy what you read here. My goal is that you will learn something too, possibly sharing your insights with me and others as well. On this blog, I plan to share the emotional and spiritual insights I have had and continue to have as a woman living with Cerebral Palsy.

I want to emphasize the words "living with" as opposed to the word "overcoming". It is my opinion that there is too much focus on overcoming disabilities in our society and not enough on living successfully with the limitations one has. To live successful with a disability, to me, means to take into account my limitations while at the same time not letting them overshadow my true abilities in my own mind. This is something that I continually strive to do. Some days are easier than others, G-d knows! I believe a disability is not something that is to be successfully overcome. Rather living successfully with a disability means to endure limitations while finding and celebrating your G-d given talents/gifts.

Welcome again! I look forward to hearing your thoughts!
